Independence County Sheriff's Office
The Independence County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Shawn Stephens since 2017, is responsible for law enforcement throughout Independence County and the City of Southside under an interlocal agreement. The office administers the county jail, investigates criminal cases, and serves civil processes, while its dedicated team of deputies, investigators, and support staff work to ensure public safety and maintain strong community partnerships.
